I'm just starting disgaea 2 but I wonder if there is a manual somewhere to introduce what all the abbreviations in the menus are. I'd love a really really basic resource to get me going before I start reading about item worlds and statisticians. All rights reserved Back to top. However, all hell breaks loose as Adell accidentally kidnaps the Princess of the Netherworld. Will Adell be able to return the Princess, defeat Zenon, and break the Overlord's dark curse? This guide can help. I'm just two stages left in it. Info compiled from forums, wikis and own personal experience. With that said having given the first game a review a while ago it only made sense to give one to the second one as well. Well time for me to talk and find out. So as you start up a new file for the first time, just like in the first game, you're given a voiceover explaining the current situation. An evil Overlord known as Zenon has corrupted the land of Veldime.http://odlesales.com/base/brother-3045-manual.xml

A once peaceful world, Zenon's influence has corrupted all human life, slowly turning them into demons and robbing them of not only their humanity but memories as well. All except for one young man, Adell. In an attempt to undo the mess caused by the God of All Overlords, performs a ritual to summon the all-powerful demon.only to mess that up and INSTEAD summon his one and only daughter Rozalin. Furious over essentially being kidnapped, she demands our battle loving, firey red haired hero to escort her back. From there it's up to the two to find Zenon and have whatever happen, well happen. Of course being a Disgaea game, lots of wacky antics and comedy filled turns occur along the way. Which is to be expected but I'd say that the story is a bit more on the serious side. It's a fine enough story on its own and gets the job done even if its nothing outstanding. The comedy helps liven things up a bit and i did chuckle at some of the jokes and humor even if I felt like the cast overall wasn't as good as the two trios from the first game and that the story didn't have the emotional impact the first one had either. Kind of a shame but it's certainly not a terrible story either, even by the standards of this series. While I went on for a while talking about the story and cast I also have a fair bit to say about the gameplay. In general it is a turn based tactics game where your squad (of up to 10 units) can be dispatched on to a field. You take your turn positioning your units and selecting their attacks and after you end your turn the enemy does the same with the end goal usually being to kill all their units before they kill yours. This is a series known for one where you can reach LV 9999 and grind to infinity (which you do not need to do to complete the game. That mentality even carries over into some of its mechanics, most notable of which is the dark assembly and the felony system.http://severstroysnab.ru/userfiles/brother-2920r-manual.xml

You can try to pass bill but you also improve your chance at a bill passing by bribing them like a real demon would or even beating up the naysayers should the bill fail. After all, playing by the rules isn't how demons are after all and you're going to need to for some of the bills later in the game. It can feel very grindy in the post-game, even compared to the first game which had some grinding issues towards the end when you going for the best items and fighting the superbosses. Unlocking higher tier classes was a good example. In the first game getting the higher tiers of human characters was as simple as having one unit reach certain level thresholds. Compared to that the second game requires both a level requirement as well as using the current highest tier of the class to unlock the next one which is a lot more time consuming. Monster classes are the same way though unlike the first game you don't have to kill a bunch of them to lower the cost of creating one which exemplifies what I mean. The improve on the grind in some ways and worsen it in others. Want the best items in the first game. Just find some high rank items (a few of which were either freebies or easily stolen from enemies) and go to the item world. Want to do that in Dis 2? Well I hope you go to Item World in another hub area or you can't find it. How to get this other hub area. Well you have to jump through a bunch of hoops fighting certain enemies that randomly spawn on certain floors in the item world to eventually unlock it. It's frustrating because the game gives you more tools to play with and a ton of characters to use including a dozen or so DLC characters that you now get for free and can even use right at the start of the game. It gives with one hand and stops you with the other. There's more examples I can give but I think this makes my point clear. Since I've gone on about how it plays I think I'll go over how it looks and sounds.

Compared to the first game it's an objective improvement. Yeah it still has the issue of lower res sprites which may be a turn off to some but they're definitely high quality then in 1 and look more lively to boot. It's not just in the sprites you can see improvement. It's about everywhere. More varied backgrounds and more of them in general help it stand out. I think a great example of showing how nice it looks are with the attack animations. They have a lot of flair and flash to them making it all the more exciting when you see them especially for the first time. Of course it's not just the graphics that look nice but the music as well. There's a lot of tracks in this game and most of them are great. From the more somber, to the relaxing, to the adrenaline pumping, to remixes of tracks from the original title. There's plenty to listen to and there's even a jukebox where you can listen to all the tracks you've unlocked and even let's you pick what you want to hear while you're in the Item World. In addition to the music there's also voice acting and you even have dual audio which is always appreciated and thankfully both of them are pretty good imo. So in summation, I would say Disgaea 2 is a great game and a solid follow up to the original. I prefer the first game due to its simpler nature and having a stronger main cast and story but I'd be lying if I said Dis 2 didn't do a good job of improving and iterating upon the first game in mostly positive ways. Playing this version is also the most recommended since unlike 1, it didn't get more versions of it that added other stuff that never came to PC. Though if you're still unsure give the demo a shot as it has several chapters you can play through to help decide if you want to play the whole thing or not. I have a Skull with enough Mana to reincarnate into another Genius-level Skull, but is only around level 60. Am I going to being losing any sort of potential like yellow bars if I reincarnate at lower levels.

For those who are new to the series, or want an easy access to useful information, this guide has it all! (any information from here also applies to the psp version of Disgaea 2 to an extent). If you want to see a specific section of the guide consult the guide index. I play the game using a ps4 controller via DS4, but it shouldn't be different than playing with a xbox 360 controller. In terms of keyboard and mouse I never really used it but I'll try my best to accommodate keyboard controls if needed. You should at least get past the tutorial before reading this guide. Before I start I want to address some things. This is sorta a continuation of my guide for Disgaea PC as there are reoccurring things in Disgaea 2 PC, however this guide is structured so you don't have to read the previous guide nor play the first game when jumping into this one. Also, if this is of any importance, I was able to beta test Disgaea 2 PC before release (even though I have the game on my psp, psvita and ps3 (through psn), I have more than enough experience to writing this guide). Unlike my first guide for Disgaea PC, this one will go through nearly all of the important things (at least imo) in Disgaea 2 PC and a such, I'll try my best to make sure there aren't any spoilers in terms of the story. That being said however, I am not accountable for anyone accidentally spoiling themselves as I'll make sure to put spoiler warnings throughout the guide. With that out of the way, on with the guide! A: No, not really. Each game in the series (excluding Disgaea D2) are stand-alone sequals in terms of story. Disgaea 2 PC is essentially the first game but more refined and a few extra mechanics that distinguish it from its predecessor.

You may or may not encounter some familiar faces from the first game if you played it in Disgaea 2 PC. Q: SUB VS DUB, WHICH IS BETTER!? A: This mostly comes down to preference, but I honestly have no problem with either or. I do have a soft spot for the English dub of Disgaea 2 PC as it was one of my first hands on experience into the Disgaea series on the psp. For sub purist's out there they shouldn't have any problem with the voices in this game. Q: Is this still grind heavy as the previous one, and if so, is it easier or harder. A: In terms of grinding, it definitely improved it as it doesn't take AS LONG to grind levels and getting good gear. However, it did introduce the felony system (which will be discussed later on in this guide), but overall its much easier in the long run. Q: What the hell is the Dark World. Do I have to worry about that when I'm playing the main story. A: The Dark World is NIS's answer to people who want a challenge, and you don't have to worry about it in the main story as you have to go out of your way to unlocking it through questionable ways. Q: THIS (insert specific part of the main story here) IS UNWINNABLE FOR ME. HOW DO I GET PAST THIS??? A: Well the funny thing is, there are a few cases when you have to fight an unwinnable battle and losing in order to progress in the main story. You CAN win, but the outcome isn't as great as you may think it would be. Q: I'm an achievement hunter and I gotta ask, how hard is it to 100% this game achievement wise. A: It's no easy task. You'll probably rip your hair out by the time you're done since there's so much to do in this game. Q: Are there multiple endings in this game. A: Why yes, yes there are. And the best part is all of them are tied to achievements this time around:) Unless you want to commit to seeing all of them in-game I suggest checking out the ending section of the guide for more details.

Q: I heard that this game has all the dlc completely free, but all the characters (or at the very least most of them) I don't even know who or what they are. A: Since this is the port of the psp version, all the dlc that was once payable is 100% free in the pc version. Most of the characters you encounter are from various NIS games that you probably never played or heared of. Q: Is Tyrant Overlord Baal back as the final super boss in this game. A: Baal is back and stronger in this game, but his title of final super boss was taken away from him as this is the port of the psp version. What's that? A: Like the first game, Disgaea 2 PC has an extra mode called Axel mode which puts you in the shoes of the Dark Hero himself.Fortunately, NIS has a habit of making all the dlc free whenever they port any of the Disgaea games. Disgaea 2 PC, in this case, has all the dlc that the psp had, but FREE! (Although not EVERY dlc character got in, specifically the sony cats to my knowledge). Originally you can obtain any dlc character right off the bat when you start the game as long as you beat them. But, they were all Level 100 so the only way for you to get them in the psp version was when you progressed through the story to gain enough stats or just over grind to get them. Great news! That's no longer the case, as all the dlc characters level's scale depending on your progress in the main story. It is good to note that if you're in Axel Mode, you can't access these dlc characters until you back in the main story. The rest of this section will go into further detail about the lore behind these dlc characters. If you want to know more information about a character continue reading. Otherwise if you don't give a damn just skip this. For those who want to know lore grab a drink and a pair of reading glasses cause IT'S TIME FOR LORE. Just watch the cutscene and she'll join your party.

She is the mascot of Takehito Harada, the art and character designer of the Disgaea series (and many other NIS games). In this game, she helps report the news with her plushy bunny Usagi (which replaces the next-time segments from the previous game, as well as playing at the end of every chapter in both the main story and Axel Mode). Did you know that in the Disgaea 2 manga, she actually quit her job as the Dark Assembly receptionist and, with the help of the Dark Assembly, got a job as a new's anchor. Anyways, she also has a really big fan club, and apparently Adell is part of it. Is she waifu material. His ability lets him deal more damage with non-elemental skills. If you have Sapphire in your party when you choose his stage, the cutscene changes. He was originally a gate guard who protected Princess Sapphire (whom he had a crush on), but long story short he got married to her by the end of Disgaea 3, and are busy going on their honeymoon before Hanako summoned him. The only special skill that was changed for him in this game is P Burgundy. I actually hate this, not because of the actual move (in fact i actually love him using it) but it's because this was the original move of Walnut from Phantom Brave, Psycho Burgundy. Seeing Almaz using a move that was MENT to be Walnut's signature move (besides Scarlet the Brave, who was the original user of the move, and was a hero in Ivoire in Phantom Brave) makes me uncomfortable. Is he husbando material. If you have Almaz in your party when you choose her stage, the cutscene changes. Princess Sapphire is a supporting character from Disgaea 3. It's expected of human princess's in Disgaea to be kidnapped by the overlord. But unlike other princess's, who wait for the overlord to kidnap them, Sapphire goes out of her way to find and KILL the overlord before he kidnaps her. It's not because she's emotionless, but because she simply couldn't cry.

By the end of the story in Disgaea 3, she was able to cry tears of joy with the help of Almaz, and eventually married him. They're now on their honeymoon but she got summoned by Hanako. Her final special skill got changed in this game so it's a damaging attack and no longer a worse version of Omega Heal. So get used to using that move, it'll be gone in the next installment. Her ability is that her stats increase by 5% every time she magichanges with ally monster units (this means the max possible stat increase she could receive is 45% if using 9 monster units). If you have Ash in your party before choosing her stage, the cutscene changes. Sweet innocent girl Marona. She's the main character of Phantom Brave, a girl who had inherited her parent's ability to talk to ghosts. She lost her parents at a very early age, but before they died, they helped Ash (a long time friend of Marona's parents) watch over Marona by turning him into a ghost. She also isn't a picky eater, even going as far as eating sardines WHOLE! (a certain vampire would be proud, but that's not until the 4th game). She also makes an appearance in Disgaea 3, where her innocent heart was stolen from a legendary overlord. Just imagine a 10 year old with a a sailor mouth and that's pretty much Marona in the 3rd game. Is she waifu material. His ability doubles his attack stat if it is the last turn of Magichange for him (i.e. if the magichange weapon he has says one turn left, his attack stat doubles until the end of the turn). If you have Marona in your party before choosing his stage, the cutscene changes. The main character of Phantom Brave. Ash used to be human but after he died, and with the help of Marona's parents, he was turned into a phantom. He now lives with Marona, watching over her in place of her parents. And before you ask, NO, HE'S NOT LIKE THAT TOWARDS MARONA, HE JUST WANTS TO PROTECT HER.

He also has water dragon powers, which are really really cool, but its not what you think (meaning he isn't an actual water dragon nor can he turn into one). In order for him to interact with other people, Ash has to confine into an object, and take on a physical form. Despite being confined into a plunger in this game, he retains his original appearance, its just that he smells bad. Funny enough in the 4th game, he confines himself into a sardine, which made a certain vampire very happy. His ability adds 2 more turns when he magichanges with someone (meaning instead of the usual 2 turns its 4 turns). Gig is the main(?) character from Soul Nomand and the World Eaters. He also has quite the sailor mouth and loves eating Hot Pods. He used to bring the destruction of the world with the power of the three world eaters Feinne, Thuris, and Raksha. He likes using Feinne the most out of the three. At a certain point however, he was sealed inside the Onyx blade (which he actually magichanges into!), and the world eaters were cast into an eternal slumber. That is, until they reawake, and with the help of the other main character Revya, they set on a journey to save the world. Normally I would go into further detail but the thing is, Gig is a REALLY complex character so if you want to know more about him I suggest either looking up or playing Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. Her ability lets her apply a star element on any special skill she uses (including both unique and weapon mastery skills). Dark Eclair is a supporting character from La Pucelle: Tatics, which is considered to be the grandfather of the Disgaea series. The reason why she's called Dark Eclair is because she's the dark part that lives inside Princess Eclair's soul. In La Pucelle, Princess Eclair was unable to handle the responsibility and expectations of being queen, hence Dark Eclair was born. In the end, she was able to reconcile with herself and accepted her dark part.

In this game however, Dark Eclair is playable due to Hanako's experiment. There's nothing more to say really, other than that she's a close friend of Overlord Priere back when she was human. Pram is an Overlord from Makai Kingdom. She's the character who shows up every time you cast Omega Ice in game. That's pretty cool (no pun intended). She's also a well known oracle who's able to make accurate predictions. She's responsible for predicting the downfall of Overlord Zetta and his Netherworld at the start of Makai Kingdom, and teases him throughout the game. Also SPOILER ALERT SHES A BIG FAT PHONY because she uses the sacred tome to make all of her predictions and heavily relies on it She's also an overlord prodigy, but it seems nobody in this game respects her. Her ability increases all ally's stats on the map by 5%, this also applies herself. Just watch the cutscene and she joins your party. This is probably the only character that I legitimately don't even know that is from an NIS game. The only thing I can say about her is that she comes from a game which is a spiritual successor to Marl Kingdom, otherwise more popularly known as Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. Since her game never came to the west it's no wonder that I don't know her. It's preferred to do this stage last in Summoning experiments otherwise the cutscenes will look awkward. Still, there's nothing stopping you from doing it first. Her ability is the same as Rozalin's, which increases the stats of adjacent male ally units by 20%. It's Hanako from 10 years into the future. Her ambitions of becoming a Demon Lord have come true apparently. She's no longer a monster-type unit and can use actual weapons. But an interesting bit of trivia is that she was only available to people who bought every other dlc in the psp version. Is she waifu material.

Here's a video demonstration of how to preform a diagonal throw: You need to practice doing diagonal throwing as it'll make things a lot easier for you when going through the item world, as well as clearing stages. Every character in the game has a unique ability, while some of them are pretty lame, others are amazing. For example, Adell's ability makes him do more damage against enemies that are higher level (Which is really helpful for people who don't really grind). There are a lot of ways you can take advantage of abilities in battle if you have the characters that have them. However, since this is the first game to introduce abilities, some of them are lackluster (some of them act like pokemon abilities like Blaze and Torrent, which increases a certain kind of attack when having low hp). I won't list all of them since some belong to characters that are spoilers so I'll just list most of the unique characters you get along the way, as well as most of the generic characters you can create.Everytime you have a humanoid unit use a weapon they'll gain a bit of weapon mastery. As well, main characters like Adell and Rozalin can use other kinds of weapons (I personally have Rozalin as a spell caster, giving her some elemental spells through extra gains). The possibilities are endless. Note that while you can have any humanoid character use any weapon, depending on their weapon mastery grade, they'll either learn weapon skills much quicker or slower. e.g. Rozalin has a weapon mastery grade of A for guns compared to her weapon mastery grade of B for staves. She'll earn more weapon mastery through guns than through staves, but you can still let her use staves. Monster-type units don't have any weapon mastery and can only equip one of two different kinds of monster weapons: Red monster weapons that increase the attack and hit stat when equipped Blue monster weapons that increase the attack and intelligence stat when equipped.

While this game first introduces blue monster weapons it isn't great when compared to all the benefits that humanoid units can get through weapon mastery. Weapon Mastery: Advanced Weapon Mastery also gives the weapon an additional 5% stat increase per weapon mastery level the unit has. The max weapon mastery level you can achieve is 255, meaning you get an extra 1125% increase in weapon stats on your weapon, on top of the increase you can get if you have beneficial aptitudes. Aptitudes: Aptitudes are also a factor since you can get extra stats if you have a beneficial aptitude or less stats if you have a hindering aptitude. e.g. Adell has an attack aptitude of 120% meaning he gains an extra 20% in attack whenever he equips an item that gives him attack. Rozalin on the other hand as an attack aptitude of 80%, meaning she'll only gain 80% of the attack stat. Aptitudes can also gauge what weapon a humanoid unit is good with so work around using weapons that units can take advantage using beneficial aptitudes.Basically any normal elemental, buff and debuff, and healing spell that can be learnt by a skull, mage and healer). If the red mage's level is higher, Rozalin can use more spells like mega fire and armor break if she's adjacent to her apprentice) 6) Let your character use the spell you want them to learn until that spell's skill level is level 1 (e.g. Rozalin stands next to her red mage and casts fire until it's skill level is level 1) 7) Congratulations. Your character can now cast that spell indefinitely without standing adjacent to their apprentice! (e.g. Rozalin can now cast fire without being next to her red mage.) Keep in mind, that there's no limit to how many apprentices you can have on one character. So it is possible to have a mage that can both deal damage and heal (among other things)!

Whether it be to get better equipment from the store, to increasing the strength of enemies, you'll have to use the Dark Assembly in order to get the most that Disgaea 2 PC has to offer. Unlike it's predecessor, the Dark Assembly has improved a lot for the better. There are no longer any promotional exams for characters to take in order to unlock bills, as long as you have enough mana (and depending on what conditions you've met), you are open to any bill possible in the game. Unlike actual politics, you can BRIBE the senate with items if you want a higher chance of them approving your bill. OR, you can also cheat the senate through save scumming. Just save before you want to pass a bill. If the senate denies it, just reload your save and try again. For some bills, they will always have a very low percentage of getting approved, which means you'll have to persuade by force eventually, just not until you have the stats in the postgame. The psp version and, therefore, the pc version of Disgaea 2 included 2 new bills that'll make level grinding a lot easier. If you decide to persuade by force as a senator, you will only have Adell to work with, so be careful. There are some optional bills you can choose as a senator that will result in a game over if they're passed, so make sure you don't let that happen. To unlock future tiers just level up the monster until its next tier opens, and level that next tier until the next one opens etc. This also applies to generic humanoid units if you want to unlock their later tiers too. Female Samurai: it's unlocked from the start. For those who are in Axel Mode or are in the postgame, feel free to check here. For anyone else. If you want to look go on ahead, but I'm not accountable for spoiling you: Deathsaber: Recruit Evil Ranger Pink in Axel Mode. Celestial Hostess: Recruit Main Hero B. in Axel Mode. Mass Produced Kurtis: Finish the 2nd Kurtis special Stage.

Here are the benefits of Reincarnation: 1) You can put special bonus points into your unit's stats, the amount of bonus points you can allocate depends on what quality you decide to reincarnate your character into. It ranges from Good-for-nothing (which you have to take away stat points) to Genius, so always make sure to reincarnate into genius if you want more bonus points to distribute! 2) Everytime you reincarnate, you keep a stored level. The higher the stored level you have, the extra bonus points you earn. So always try to reincarnate from the highest level possible! (the max being level 9999) 3) If you reincarnate into the same tier of the same class 10 times in a row (for unique characters like Adell you just have to reincarnate 10 times in a row), you get an extra 10 bonus points to use. Now here are the downsides of reincarnation: 1) Everytime you reincarnate you lose some weapon mastery (if it's a humanoid unit) and have the unit start over from level 1 2) The character also loses skill experience on all of their skills. If a skill loses too much experience, the character will forget the skill entirely (i.e. if you reincarnate a character with mega fire having a skill level of 1, they will forget it after they reincarnate). This includes skills learnt from weapon mastery and from Extra Gains. That's roughly 19 reincarnations assuming you always reincarnate from level 9999 in genius quality. Fortunatly you just need to get 186,000 stored levels and 200 (210 if you reincarnate 10 times in a row). And to put your mind in ease, you don't have to really get the maxed stored level in order to face the true final super boss (it will make the fight a lot easier though), but you still need to reincarnate:P For those who are new, the Item World is essentially a randomly generated dungeon that you can access within your very own items! From swords to chewing gum, every possible item has an item world inside of it.
